Black British History Uncovered
​
​ Over the years, because of Black History Month, many of us have come to know about Martin Luther King, Rosa Parks and the civil rights movement in the USA. However, few people are aware of the contributions of Black people to British society.

​This is an introductory course that reaches as far back as Roman and Medieval Britain, but also covers the Victorian era, the two world wars, and the Windrush Generation.

​Ancient Empires & Kingdoms in the Sun
​(for young historians)

 During early European explorations it was said that Africa had no history before their arrival. In this course we will destroy this and other myths about Africa's past.

​We will look back at Africa's glorious past - ancient Egypt and the pharaohs, the Kushites, Axum, Ancient Ghana, and Mali - and find out what made them great.

Powerful Black Women
Warriors ​in History


 Women in history have been largely invisible regarding human achievements. Black women have been even more hidden. And yet, powerful Black women have been known throughout the history of the world.

​On this course you will learn about 25 Black women that include pharaoh Hatshepsut, Queen Queen Nzingha, Nanny of the Maroons in Jamaica, and Harriet Tubman in America.
